OUR MISSION is to serve and to inspire the people of the lower Colorado River basin by providing the region with a uniquely authentic and intimate chamber music experience. As the second-longest river running entirely within the state of Texas, the Colorado River has been a staple of Texan identity since the state's inception. At CVCP, we strive to emulate the river's grace, power, and quiet sincerity in every facet of our music-making.

In the same way the Colorado River binds together many distinct regions of Texas, WE AIM TO UNIFY AUDIENCES by presenting concerts featuring a wide range of musical styles and mediums. From Beethoven and Brahms to Gershwin and Grainger, we offer an array of historical and contemporary repertoires. Come cry with us, come laugh with us, and most importantly: come as you are!

Our Story

Co-Founder and Artistic Director Miles Gillette-Bockhorn's roots run deep in Central Texas. Both sides of his family played a significant role in the early wave of German immigration to Texas in the 1840s—specifically, to La Grange and to nearby Round Top. Growing up just outside of both towns, he has known for years how much music means to this particular part of the state. As a graduate student at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, he gained a deep interest in chamber music. Hoping to gain performance experience and to expand his artistic palette, he invited one of his classmates, the brilliant flutist Isabelle Jamois, out to La Grange to play a few concerts. Although the duo was certainly excited to perform, they greatly underestimated the impact they would have on the community. Surely this would just be a weekend gig, right?

Wrong! The two were met with enormous support—so much so that by the time they arrived back in Houston, they found themselves asking each other: "Why not turn this into a permanent thing?"

And that's exactly what they've done. Miles and Isabelle both recognize the immense beauty of the Colorado Valley and its rich history, and cannot wait to get started. We sincerely hope you will join us on our musical journey for years to come!
